Digita’s @450 service delivers wireless broadband right where it is needed. It is a digital mobile network, which offers ADSL telecommunications connections for private and business use. @450 is the only broadband solution that you can take with you wherever you go.
@450 utilises the NMT network frequency range released from mobile phone use. The broadband solution has a low frequency range so it is possible to cover broad geographical areas with a single base station. This means that the network lends itself well to use as a connection network covering all parts of Finland. Digita will construct the network using sophisticated Flash-OFDM technology. Developed by U.S. Flarion (now Qualcomm), the Flash-OFDM (Fast Low-latency Access with Seamless Handoff Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) is a system intended for wireless data transmission.
Digita launched the @450 network on 1 April 2007, at which stage it covered the entire southern area of the Helsinki-Turku-Tampere axis, as well as the area between Oulu and Vuotso. Scheduled for completion in stages, the network will cover the entire country by the end of the year 2009. Its building and scheduling in different localities depends on the needs expressed by service providers and regions.
With Digita’s @450 map service, you can search those localities in the map service where the @450 network is available. The map service is based on address and municipality search.
Digita will construct the @450 network using an open network model, in which Digita will act as the network operator offering network capacity to all service providers under equal terms. Digita’s customers in the @450 network are service providers, who sell network services to consumers. This means that Digita will not offer the services directly to consumers. The costs accruing to consumers from use of the network are determined by the service providers, who also sell terminal equipment for the network. The service is currently provided by Oy M & P Systems Ltd, Fujitsu Services, TeliaSonera Finland and their several partners.
